Kenny Rigsby
Kenny is a narrative and documentary filmmaker from East Texas. His short films have screened around the country, including the Sun Valley Film Festival — and his documentary series Fighter, which told the intimate stories of three small-town amateur boxers looking to turn pro, took home top honors at several festivals.
His latest feature-length documentary, Pine Curtain Fighters, is being supported by Film independent’s Documentary Story Lab.
In 2007, Kenny and his wife founded a non-profit organization working to bring hope to at-risk and exploited youth. His 15 years leading the organization solidified an empathetic worldview that greatly influences his approach to filmmaking.
Kenny is passionate about positively shifting culture through storytelling and he makes films so that people might see one another — that they might empathetically engage the world around them and recognize our shared humanity.
Grayson Lackey
Grayson is an award-winning director & cinematographer whose work has screened in festivals in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago as well as numerous festivals all over the state of Texas. He has taken home several awards for his textured and intimate filmmaking style. His project Counting Up, screened as an exhibit at the Ellen Noel Art Museum.
Grayson grew up on a cattle ranch in East Texas helping his grandfather out in the fields. In high-school, while developing his filmmaking through commercial and narrative projects, he worked in the hayfields bailing hay for East Texas feed stores. This lifestyle of rubbing shoulders with both the blue-collar and the artistic community has developed a need in him for humanity to gain a curiosity and a desire to understand each other’s different perspectives through his filmmaking.
